Rumor: Apple's Working on Curved, Pressure-Sensitive Screens

Curved screens may have seemed like a gimmick when we first heard about them, but it looks like they’re here to stay.

Citing information from “a person familiar with the plans,” Bloomberg is reporting that Apple is working on new iPhone designs featuring big, curved screens, along with new touch sensors that react to varying amounts of pressure.

From Bloomberg:

With screens of 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, the two new models would be Apple’s largest iPhones, the person said, and would approach in size the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 that Samsung Electronics Co. debuted in September … Testing continues on the pressure-sensitive technology, which is unlikely to be ready for the next iPhone release and is instead planned for a later model, the person said.

The report also states that we might be seeing the new, larger iPhones sometime near the end of next year.

What do you think about the idea of iPhones having larger displays? That certainly seems like the direction smartphones are going in, though some people feel it makes the phones too bulky and prefer a more streamlined, portable option.
